The Tak ICC is the governing body for Takhini Elementary School along with the FNSB Board of Trustees. They meet regularly and work with the principal and other school administrators to plan the school’s operations. The members are appointed by the Board of Trustees and are accountable to them and to the school community: First Nations, Elders and Knowledge Keepers, residents and citizens, parents, families - and above all - the Learners of Tak.

The First Nation School Board implemented an Interim Community Committee to work with school administration for the operation and management of Takhini Elementary School and to support:

  • Ensuring the school supports students and meets their education needs and aspirations;

  • Implementing a curriculum that is culturally relevant and incorporates use of Dan’kë (Southern Tutchone language);

  • Providing local participation in decision-making process with respect to the management and operation of the school; and

  • Promoting community involvement and reconciliation in the school community.

    On September 4, 2025, the Committee hosted a table/public meeting as part of the Welcome back to school evening. Kailen and Tanis were happy to meet with families to discuss priorities and share the 2024-2025 Annual report. You can find a copy of the report below.

The Takhini Elementary School Interim Community Committee has been in place since the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year:
